Jewelry for the anniversary of Kolomenskoe

Specially for the centennial anniversary of the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve, graduates of the British Higher School of Design have developed 15 jewelry collections. Accessories based on natural, architectural and stock objects will be phased out throughout the year.

Designers Anna Koroleva, Oksana Kostalgina, Anna Lopatkina, Tatyana Panferova, Daria Kharina, Marina Kharitonova and Ekaterina Shestopalova got acquainted with the history of Kolomenskoe, visited the museum collections: wood, metal, tiles, fabrics and ethnography, and talked with the curators. As a result, 15 jewelry collections were developed, based on the vibrant identity of the museum-reserve.

Designer Anna Koroleva has created two series of handmade jewelry, which brings together a whole bunch of quotes and images inspired by Kolomensky.

Historic apple orchards - Voznesensky, Dyakovsky and Kazansky - inspired Anna to create the Apple Blossom collection. The line includes a ring, earrings and various types of nickel silver brooches. From year to year, in spring, the gardens become the main points of attraction of the museum-reserve: thousands of visitors try to capture the fleeting beauty of flowering trees. Metal flowering branches are made with photographic precision, the designer managed to capture the ephemeral beauty of flowers and make it eternal.

The Oak Grove collection features a pendant and earrings made of antique brass: metal oak leaves are made according to casts from real ones and complemented with Murano glass acorns. The source of inspiration was one of the oldest trees in Moscow - oaks growing near the Sovereign's Court, located in the center of the Museum-Reserve. Scientists estimate the age of these trees from 400 to 600 years. According to legend, it was here that the future Tsar Peter I was taught to read and write when he did not want to be in the Palace.

I was inspired by organics and natural forms. All elements of jewelry are exact copies of real leaves, flowers and twigs. History and nature are closely intertwined in Kolomenskoe DNA. Therefore, it was doubly interesting to try to rethink the symbols of the unique apple orchards and the oak grove that remembers Peter the Great,” said designer Anna Koroleva.

The calendar spring has already arrived, and it does not matter that the weather so far says otherwise. Now is the time to think about the upcoming holidays: be it International Women's Day or the birthdays of loved ones. These and other pieces of jewelry make ideal gifts for fine art collectors and history connoisseurs. Jewelry can be purchased at souvenir shops located on the territory of the Kolomenskoe Museum-Reserve.
