Beekeeper’s Farmhouse

Beekeeper’s Farmhouse

Kolomenskoe

Not far from the Tsar’s Courtyard, behind the Ascension Garden, there stands a Beekeeper’s Farmhouse. This modern reconstruction of a farmhouse existing at the turn of the XX century comprises a wooden dwelling house, household buildings and a garden plot with the apiary.

At the beekeeper’s house you can see a Honey Kolomenskoe two-hall permanent exhibition. In the Beekeeping History section located in the first hall you will see relevant equipment such as honey extractor, wax melter, a beekeeper’s knife, smokers, framed honeycombs etc. The Peasant’s Hut section in the second hall is an interior reconstruction with benches, houseware and even a true Russian stove with a sleeping bench at the top. Such an interior was typical of peasants’ houses at the turn of the XX century.

The reconstructed complex at Kolomenskoe shows a typical Russian beekeeping household.

The Beekeeper’s Farmhouse makes part of the Kolomenskoe Ethnographic Complex. Welcome to see its other sites, namely: the Falcon, Horse and Smith’s Yards, the Kolomenskoe Peasant’s Farmhouse as well as the Water Mill on the Zhuzha Rivulet
